I'm 47, and don't drive. In spite of programming for over 20 years, I've just begun developing back problems in the last 3 or so (due to a fall-related coccyx injury). I put it down to lots of walking, cycling and casual exercise, integrated into daily life.

Cycling does very little to work your back muscles, or any of your core muscles at all. Great for the legs and cardio in general, but a more comprehensive workout routine will go much farther in strengthening your core and addressing back problems.

Yes I recommend yoga also

There are basically only two muscles that keep you upright; stomach and back if you let one go the other has to compensate.

Yes, I've had my spine removed long ago since it was really just a bother anyway.
Much easier to be spineless these days.

(Bank account balances don't count, I'm sure that was gone after the first)
It was broke, so I fixed it.

After the first you just assume the position and wait for the reach around that never comes.

Are you saying you are married?

I've been working hard to develop those stomach, erm... muscles. I've gained a good 6" in "muscle" in the past 5 years!

Same here from a size 32 waist to 34, pure muscle.
Right!!! The only muscle I've been exercising lately is my brain and the rest has been settling to my ass.

also, look at your vehicle that you ride in or on.
A Walk is good but also just regular exercise. I play wackyball 3-4 times a week. (Racquetball) But pick something that doesn't feel like exercise to you.

What I mean with the ride in or on. Is I had a vehicle that after the 20 minute drive to work. I could not walk. I thought it was my back. get a new to me used vehicle and suddenly back is fine. Turns out it was the seat in the car that just beat on me. Might have been the suspension, or the seat or something. I never did get it adjusted right.

Get rid of the chair and get either a yoga ball (or a stool) - your spine is not supposed to be supported.
(Also - nobody i likely to steal the yoga ball)

It was actually my chair at home. If someone comes to steal my stuff my chairs will be the least of my worries

My goodness man, what are you going to do when the zombies invade, the meteor strike happens, ISIS hits your office, followed by the Imamah and then Cthulhu, and then a sharknado, and another Sol Nemisis pass through the Oort cloud. You'd be so scr...d. To heck with the comfy share go lift some iron, get in shape for the coming catastrophes.
