Not sure if the site is being flooded, all I'm getting is the article title/subtitle.
But, a zipline? It can't be so "tough" that it's actually something people do on weekends for fun...?
A "tough" commute (granted, my own definition/opinion) is one where you sit in traffic for hours every day, and ends up sucking the life right out of you even before you get to work. And you end up doing that for years, if not decades.
I'm going to assume that because the page doesn't fully load on my end, I'm not getting the full context...

A tough commute is walking 15km - 20km to and from work in the hot SA sun. I've only had to walk 10km one way for short periods of time, but for so many people here, such a walk as a firmly entrenched way of life.

Yeah, I'll agree with you.
The page has finally loaded, I've read it, and watched the video.
It looks rickety and dangerous alright (that's really not my sort of thing), but judging by the expression on the faces of the woman (and her two young kids) at the 30s mark, they don't seem to be particularly distressed. I suspect this is just part of their everyday life and they think nothing of it.
That being said, I have no doubt the stress of a "tough commute" (if we go back to the original discussion) can actually take years off of people's lives...so I'll stand by my initial assertion.
As for the differences between an "extreme commute" (as per the actual article title) and a "tough commute" (as portrayed by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz in his original message)...I hope he doesn't think the terms are interchangeable. That's really my only beef with the whole thing.
