For those of you who enjoy Mathematica/MapleSoft and other types of mathematical computational software, this is Wolfram's free web offering. They do have some time limits (time to retrieve possible solutions) for the free version. The pro/paid version has mobile as well.

If you click on the link for examples, you can see all the really neat stuff this product can do. For me, i use it for date/time calcs and proofs, etc....

I did a search and did not see any one post on this, at least in the Lounge.

I also got a reduced rate for Pro because I am a student.

Seriously good, having it take you step by step through vector calculus and differential equations.

Delightful, isn't it? I've been using it for about 4 years now...

In other news, a friend of a coworker has been struggling with a math class in college, so I recommended the site to her about a month ago. I got word back last week that she has passed the class, thanks mostly to Wolfram Alpha. It's rare to see a truly useful service anywhere these days, and to have it offered at no cost is a major bonus. Kudos to the development team and their budgetary masters! Big Grin | :-D

...the overhead cable bringing my telephone into the building broke on Sunday, and the engineer has been forbidden access to the pole by the people in whose field it sits as they "have a dispute running with BT".
Since mobiles don't work in the house and you'd be lucky to get a 3G signal in the garden, I can't go that route either.
So I have no internet, no phone, and interrmittent email (thanks to friends who have let me have the login keys for their WiFi, but thier connection is so slow (500m bit / sec! OMG | :OMG:

) that even that will disturn their sons online footie game, so I have to be "kind"! Laugh | :laugh:

So...I have access to the internet only when I go to the local library (or Tesco via my tablet)! And this on IE 8...on a single 17" monitor...and a cheap mouse...and a nasty (rather dirty) keyboard... Dead | X|

I'd forgotten how much I rely on the internet when coding: it's a lot harder when you have to remember everything

I don't know how long this is going to be the case, but I suspect it'll be quite a while - so I thought I'd let you know I won't be about much for the forseeable future.

And the owners of the field with the pole in? Let's just say they are the kind of people you see on TV who baought a house near Heathrow because it was cheap, and then try to get the airport shut because of the noise... Sigh | :sigh:

Too bad Griff. I hope this problem is solved fast. I just wonder why you are using the phone cable for your internet. Even here in fourth world county we use separate cable for the internet (optical for the chosen few).
Can't you change your internet provider ?
