There is that risk.
Fortunately we live on a planet that has never been hit by a bolide or subjected to massive doses of radiation.
(Well, except for all the bolides that have hit us and the GRB that hit us in the 8th Century).
Sod the risks, we would be in a far better position to see the great stuff out there, and in a more densely populated region we could have neighbours!
