Wind chill projected to -55F on Monday here. There are warnings not to go outside with exposed skin.

It's 25F (-3.8C) here on the east coast of the US.

Nah, it's nice out. Great weather for hiking or other outdoor activities.

It's actually possible to go outdoors and live through the experience right now, and this should last a couple of months. High today was around 70°F, and for the first time in weeks, it wasn't windy.

I've moved to the Sunny Coast now. And while admitting to being an ex-pom I feel suitably acclimatised, preferring my beer colder than a witches tit for example.

Not everywhere, today we have rain & about +6°C ... at this time of the year we usually have snow & temperatures well below 0°C ...

+6°C sounds pretty darned chilly to me!

I cannot even run WinHeist as I get a security error as the program cannot write to its config file, which is in the application directory. You may also want to look at the initial data directory thing, and just show the dialog if the path doesn't exist on first run.

I haven't updated WinHeist to run on Window 8+, mainly because I don't have access to an Weight machine.
I've been so busy since early summer since I moved to Beaufort I just haven't had time or motivation to fool with it.

Do you have Win7 or Vista(!)? Those will have the same issue with security. Simply moving anything you need to write to from the application directory to the AppData directory should fix it.

I've got Weven Pro and VS2010, will that work? I've not done any research or had any inkling to do any Weight development so have no idea as to whether my system will do the job. I've got a couple more days of work to do and then I'll be free to work on it...plus it's going to be cold all week so won't be going out and will try to break away from other development I've got going and work on it some. Additionally some time next week I'll be getting my Beagle Bone Black so I want to get this and the Autonomous Rover article out of the way.
Maybe I should put out a shout for Weight Beta testers?
I've threatened to retire before but this time I mean it...oh wait I am retired.

I had no idea what WinHeist was until now. Seeing 1N4004 in a screenshot brought a wide smile to my face. Fond memories of hardware hacking. Thanks, Mike!

Since this is related to directory access rights (introduced in Vista), Win7 should work. Just place configuration files in the AppData directory and you should be good to go.

Mitchell,
I'm getting real close to having a Beta ready to test, probably tomorrow. Would you be willing to be a tester?
If not no big deal I would just like someone with Windows 8 to be a tester since I don't have a weight machine.
If you do decide to do it I will put it on my site for download and if you would give me feedback after testing.
Thanks,
Mike

I have a beta version of WinHeist ready if you're still interested you can get it from my site WinHeist 2.0 Beta[^]
Any feedback would be appreciated.
