Hey, it took me a long time to get that look.
I really would like to get rid of the underscores, but daren't experiment further!

Now now. It would not be gentlemenly to rub it in. We can't have them thinking we are uncouth.
|
|
|
|
|
Oh there's no need to worry. We already know you're uncouth.

Oh, you're pretending to be an Ocker now. MM informed us you surrendered your right to blokeship when you started drinking "lite" beer.
The reason the Poms haven't posted is because apparently we didn't send a proper cricket team. I would like to apologise to Australia for that. You were expecting the England Cricket squad. Apparently we sent the Kibblesworth Champion Crochet team instead.

Correction. You forgot to mention it was the 2nd XI.

Hey - it was not a lite beer!
There just wasn't very much of it compared to Mick's efforts. Which is a statement applicable to any amount of beer one tries to consume next to Mr Martin.

True enough. I suspect if I tried matching him drink for drink last year he'd've drank me under the table despite my having a considerable mass advantage.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Aren't you Canadian?
And yes, I am very busy. No time for cricket chat this morning.

If I were Canadian I would have apologised to the Poms for trouncing them so comprehensively.

Tomorrow morning I shall be harvesting some of this year's crop.
My MD has invited me to a shoot and I shall be trying my best to bag a brace at least.
This will upset Michelle.
I will be plucking, gutting, dressing, cooking and eating pheasant tomorrow (With pheasant you either eat them on the day they are shot, or let them hang for a couple of weeks).
I shall be eating them while they are still warm!
She moans like hell when she sees me ramming a spoon up a bird's cloaca as I gut it.
She makes me wash the spoon, twice!
Must do it in the garage as well, the crop stinks when you cut off the head and neck.
The shoot will be followed by the Works Xmas Lunch, so not much work tomorrow PM either!
The trouble is this leaves only three days to do about a fortnight's work.
C'est la vie!

It sounds like it's worth the sacrifice, Dave!
I spent a day recently carving Bambi into thin strips for jerky. After a while the smell gets a bit gagging, but rinsing the palate with large quantities of scotch helps.
The jerky turned out excellent, by the way; enjoy the bird!

Michelle told me you were a pheasant plucker.
At least I think that's what she said ...

I am not a pheasant plucker,
I'm a pheasant plucker's son
but I'll be plucking pheasants
When the pheasant plucker's gone.

I am not the pheasant plucker,
I'm the pheasant plucker's mate.
I'm only plucking pheasants
'Cause the pheasant plucker's late.

If you pluck the breast ridge and skin it from there, you can cut the legs and breast meat off without the need for feathers everywhere and stinky bits

|

Yep I was going to recommend this, when my family get a pheasant these days that's what they do with it. Much more pleasant and you get 95% of the usable bits.

You talking about stuff like the Soundcraft Vi series? I can only dream about owning something like that.
I have an old Mackie 24-8, that does the job. Unfortunately it's starting to develop some issues.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

Had a Mackie 24-8 in the studio before switching to a Digital 8 Bus, which I still have. Was a huge Mackie fan back in the day. They seem to have lost their way since Loud bought them out. Still, I hope Greg Mackie has his own private island and is sipping drinks with little umbrellas in them.
Just picked up a Soundcraft Si Expression 3 for the band I'm putting together. It's very nicely done.

What do you think of the D8? I've considered picking one of those up to replace the 24-8.

For studio use I love the D8B. I originally bought it for the flying faders and ability to save and replay mechanical mixes. These days I do all my mixing in the box with my DAW and so don't use that functionality. However, it's great to be able to save and recall mixer setups, and of course being a digital mixer the patching is great.
I still use a Mackie HDR for tracking because it's zero latency. I have 24 tracks of ADAT light pipe giong between the D8B and HDR, so the signal chain is digital once it hits the mixer. After I've recorded the tracks, I use Filezilla to FTP them off of the HDR and bring them into Cubase for my mixing and work "in the box" from that point on.
The D8B is "old technology" these days, so you should be able to get a good deal on one. If you can snag an HDR while you're at it, I highly recommend the combination.

By the way, after lots of gear upgrades this year I have a number of things I'm going to be selling in January, including a Yamaha GA 32 analog mixer, lots of Martin RoboColor IIs and 218 scanners as well as a couple of MiniMac Profile moving heads (DMX controlled lighting), a couple of follow spots, and some smaller things like Lexicon & Alesis fx units, RNC compressors, etc.
If you know of anyone who would be interested, point them to the contact page on my web site.
