That's still pretty cheap compared to a lot of other alcoholic beverages.
I pay €6 for a shot of who knows what goes in a Horny Cowboy (or whatever fun name they come up with).
That's €6,- for a single sip...
A cocktail is just a few sips more (it's mostly ice) and doesn't sell under €10,- a glass.
I don't drink beer, but I sure like shots and cocktails, guess I have an expensive taste
Usually, I just settle for an Ice Tea though (a regular one, not the (non-alcoholic) cocktail).

Personally I prefer a real ale, or a kellerbier (on tap) any day.
I don't like excessive, be it alcohol content or hops or funny yeast cultures or whatever. A well made beer, preferably draught, does it for me.
