It will drop from 61°F to 3°F in a 2 day period (16.1C to -16.1C). I am expecting to find frozen rats and homeless people in suspended animation.

I can assure you -16C is not cold enough for frozen homeless. Although it would be super cool.
Don't comment your code - it was hard to write, it should be hard to read!

True. It was colder last week, and I didn't see any frozen people then. I saw homeless under the expressway under what looked like 50+ pounds of blankets (stacked about 4 feet high). The news reported that a few old people died of hypothermia, though, I don't think they were homeless, but they probably had their heat turned off / forgot what month it was / wanted to die.
Last Saturday, this kid froze to death, well died of exposure. Wind was gusting at 40mph that night:

I see what you did there. The thing with the phrasing.

Really from your figures it goes from 61F on Tue to 23F/3C on Thu.? Not the 61F - 3F you are claiming unless I'm missing something?

I suspect his 2 numbers per day are high / low not F / C.

You're concerned about climate prognostication. When has one ever been correct? Especially when it comes to temperature extremes.

The drastic switch doesn't bother me so much. We're at 30F here and will be at a low of -11F by Wednesday night. It's the 3-7 inches of snow that they say might come tonight that bothers me.

I don't mind snow, my Jeep can get me out if I need it. I hate ice, frozen rain, sleet. The type of weather where you can slide off one step and break your neck.

Been there done that... well I broke my knee not my neck - but it was only one icy step.

Exactly, I've only chipped my elbow and hit my head pretty hard. Over the holidays, an old high school friend broke his back in 3 spots on just one step. It is absolutely insane how much momentum you can fall with when there is very little surface friction.

Brrr, that is quite a temperature swing .
We just got hit by a couple of days of cold weather with the lowest temperature around 5°C (41°F) last night and 3°C (37°F) tonight. I know it is not the same as what you are experiencing, but I am currently in our house in Baja, right by the beach. There is a strong wind blowing in from the ocean and it seems like it comes straight through the walls of this 60 year old house with no insulation, no built-in heaters and single pane glass.
It is not a whole lot of fun going to the bathroom in the middle of the night on days like this .
Fortunately it looks like it will be warming up again starting Wednesday.

Our forecast is similar if you add about 20F to the numbers. It was about 80F here today, though.
