I worked with one of the Dutch CSI bigwigs, who had to go to the UK and present a new set of standards for shoeprint examination.
One of the cases we ran through (which had been solved by counting micro-cracks in the soles of culprit's size nines) was a German guy who brought his wife to the Netherlands with the express purpose of murdering her and burying her in the woods, then telling everyone back home that she had run away with a Dutch guy she had been chatting with on-line (the chatting bit was true).
For this heinous, brutal, premeditated murder, he got two years, and the CSI guy classed that as a good result -- so yes, it is pretty much legal, here*.
Try stealing EUR 50 from a bank or insurance company, though...

Once I might've suggested using a torbrowswer, but since pretty much every cop show brings up the dark-web in about every third episode it's lost some of it's charm.
(And despite it's anonymity they still manage to trace the bad guys right to their location [which for some weird reason is almost always waterfront warehouse].)
Suggestion 1: avoid waterfront warehouses - cops will always go there to look for you (and inland is cheaper anyway).

Hi All,
At my parents building things, fixing things etc. I know I am not really a skilled trades man, or term served apprentice more enthusiastic amature. I have not really got a full tools set more I tend to buy the cheap pound shop version (Harbour Freight for those over the pond!) of a tool for a purpose typically if its any use it gets replaced with a better version when finaces allow. Does the hive mind have any opinon on this method of tool set acquisition, I am pretty much the same with PC's does it run X will it run Y, not cutting edge does the job, gets replaced when it breaks or wont do the job.

I never had tool problems... My father is magician when it comes to fixing things around home... We always had decent tools in perfect conditions and since I married he checks out every 2-3 months what I need and buys the tool...

From what I've heard here, you can get used merchandise relatively inexpensively, including tools.

I have in the past looked at getting a masonry drill from a pawn/loan/cash-convertor style place pick it up released a cober plate to look inside (to appear to know what I was doing!) release about 3 pounds of dust a broken bits. Put the drill back on its shelf and left...

Most of my tools are of high quality (and more than 25 years old). I have only a few cheap ones for seldom required works.
Did you ever helped with a movement, asked for a Philips screw driver, and got handed out a really cheap one, or - even worse - one delivered together with the furniture kit?
These can be only used with brand new screws being very carefully to avoid damaging the screw. When using them for unscrewing, often screw and driver are damaged. Unscrewing such maltreated screws is then really difficult even when using a really good driver.

The worst thing is someone who doesn't know the difference between Philips and Cross Head and then round off your very expensive Philips in a cross head destroying the srew head while moaning that the screw driver is wrong.

I made a huge error once when it came to buying cheap tools. Bought a cheap all in one tool for bike fixing...
Let just say that neither tool nor screw survived that ordeal. The hexagon shaped tool gbake round, same with the screw. There was just enough grip left in the screw that with a lot of force a high quality tool managed to get it loose but by then enough damage had been made that I just chucked it all away.
Cheap tools to fix a cheap bike wasn't the best combination.

I for one have always found those all in tools to be a false economy I play Bass and needed a set of Hex-Allen Keys bought one of those tool and found it to be very awkward to use, yeah they are handy to get you out of a mess but a set of loose keys allow me to get better purchase...beware the All-In One Tool, it does everything to an extenet.
