You can pick up the Inheritance cycle[^] next.
Some inspiration from the LOTR series is evident (and I can say that for most of the fantasy fictions I've read) but the author explores other facets of such imagined worlds which were not in the LOTR.
I'm bound to recommend it.

--- SPOILER ---
Good series, but the end kind of sucks.

Mm.... of course I will sucked in if I start...
But I am afraid I should avoid it. particularly when you mention LOTR!
Is this another of those story where the hero(es?) fight really really (really) evil thing?
In general any fantasy / drama where the antagonist is the antagonist simply because he is evil incarnate, bent on destroying everything... well I am addicted to fantasy so I will still read it. But I will think little of it.... It even bores me sometimes....

You'll be surpirsed then.

If you haven't read them yet, I can definitely recommend The Laundry Files[^].

Did you read Riverworld series[^]? I read it a couple of years ago and found it interesting.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Is there anyone else who knows full well that Outcast[^] is the best one ever?
I've got the remake, as well (which costs more than 6x the price), but it's actually not as good, and is an absolute PITA to play with a joypad (you still have to use the keyboard to do a few odd things -- like shoot!)

Insurgency: Sandstorm is currently the best.

Too hack & slash for me.
I prefer more thoughtful games -- preferably with a bit of humour.

Well, I love playing Insurgency and recommend it to anyone who wants an ultra-realistic multi-player combat FPS. Highly addictive, highly PTSD causing too.

I think maybe he'd have liked that.

Terribly appropriate, too, as the Pound Sterling is about to disappear into one...

A bit cheap. I would have expected a 2 pound coin at the least.
Better would have been a 20 pound note.

Is that hole an optical illusion or a way of reducing the amount of silver (or whatever alloy is used to pretend it's silver) ?

I think a optical illusion - vending machines tend to work partly on weight as well as size and shape, so a hole could cause problems.

Not round: a equilateral-curve heptagon, or Reuleaux polygon: matheminutes: What shape is a 20 pence piece?[^]
Much more interesting that a mere round bit of metal!
