The title of the article doesn't quite match the contents. What surprised me was that I can't imagine getting to the point where handing my kids over to the government seems like the best option.

Do you really think it's getting worse? Maybe I'm living in some kind of a bubble, but I definitely feel like people are more friendly and selfless now. Haven't there always been people making choices like this and worse?
