Some websites are nice enough to send you an email for password resets, when you forget your password. These emails are randomly generated? (yeah right) While not the exact password I just received in an email from a well known message board that we all frequent I can imagine that it could be:
IlIlilLiLil0oO0o
I gave up trying to use the font tag to properly illustrate my issue, however, lets just say, I's and L' and O and 0's tend to look identical and should be avoided.

I usually copy & paste the password from the mail, any ways once you login the web site will ask to reset the password.

I have to agree with this, I never type in those temporary passwords when I can copy and paste it faster, and then it wouldn't matter if the characters are even on my keyboard, throw in some obscure unicode symbols for all I care.

Usually I do, but some emails I get on my personal account email, and cannot sign on to my personal email account at work, and then do work on my work computer. Infragistics has my personal email, and only use infragisitics on my work computer. Don't like infragistics, and not about to pay for a licence.

Copy/paste into a text file, save text file to usb.

Sorry, that does not work either since they block USB devices, and do not have admin rights to change.

I'm always nice when a user forgets his passowrd - my automated system sends him a unique new password to his registered email.
To be precise, it sends him a GUID.
"Your new password is: 90a585eb-dff6-4668-a849-fc8cdc7a7edc"
Strangely enough, they tend to change it to something they can remember very, very quickly...
If you get an email telling you that you can catch Swine Flu from tinned pork then just delete it. It's Spam.

I like the GUID Approach though I never saw in real time Also I'm sure the user will change the password too.. You are in-directly making him to change the auto generated one

That's just sick
Don't comment your code - it was hard to write, it should be hard to read!

Nice! I am thinking of (eventually) setting up a website, and I think I will use the GUID thing for password resets.
Or a sequence of 64 Base 32 Characters.

There is no point in creating activity logs if you don't review them!
