Probably, but I wonder why an A/C would use Upper Side Band, rather than Lower Sideband. I bet Double sideband would be twice as cool.

I think a 15" screen is too small on a laptop when the resolution is 1920x1080. I travel a fair amount for my job so a laptop is important and I think a 17" display is much better. I also like them light so I ended up going with one of MSI's gaming laptops. It has a 17" display, good GPU also, and it weighs about five pounds. Since I do GPU programming these days it works very well for me. If you compile on it a lot it is very nice to have your compiler on an SSD. I could have gone with a 4K display but the text is so small I didn't like it.
Sorry I can't help you with the flashdrive issue.

The laptops they're planning to buy all have high DPI screens, so pick your scaling factor and text size.
IMO 1080p on a 13/15" laptop is the worst. Unless you're using it without extra screens and can put the display really close it's just too high DPI for 1:1 scaling to work, and 5:4 makes artifacts from older software that doesn't have proper high DPI support maximally visible. 
The model they're planning to get has a discrete GPU; although I don't think anything I or my coworkers do will need it. Unless someone wants to install steam for a bit of relaxation while traveling I guess; but with only an entry level GPU the result's still going to be rather meh I imagine.
I'm not too concerned either way, having 32gb of ram should give me at least a few years breathing room before Visual Studio, IIS, Sql Server, Chrome, and Firefox manage to bloat themselves up enough I have to deal with swapping slow down or app restarts to compact the heaps.

I was just going to point out how sad it is that 17" laptops are so rare to find these days that a 15" laptop is described by a developer as "awesome".

They really are not rare at all. I went to newegg.com and then to their section for laptops and in the filters I selected a screen size of a 17 and above. The result of that was a listing 78 pages long with 36 items per page. That's a LOT.

I like the gaming laptops because they have decent GPUs.

I can't say I've gone out of my way to look for them. But whenever I get flyers from any store that sells electronics that include laptops, I look for them, and I never see 17" laptops.
OTOH, maybe they're plentiful, but they're never on sale...

I think it's just a matter of where you look. Newegg seems to always have one or more models on sale.

hMMM MY SURFACE pRO 6 HAS SCREEN OF 2736 X 1824 BY DEFAULT. I COULD SET IT FOR LESS, BUT WHY?
And it appears tyo have crazy long battery life. I've had it going for 16 hours when I use it normally and 48 hours when I turn on battery saver and let it rest a bit.
Microsoft was right, this is the last laptop I'll never need with256 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM and an i5 cpu.
It works for me!

There's a big spread in read/write speeds between the absolute cheapest flash you can buy and what Sandisk, etc put in their premium models. With sketchy no name drives there's also the risk of them buying QA reject flash that has a higher error rate than the ECC can handle or being outright scams and reporting a much larger capacity to the OS than they actually have.

Algorithms are a lot easier to solve if you can solve them visually.
Then walk yourself through the steps your brain takes to solve it.
For example, if I have to scan a list of items with my eyes in order to solve it, I'll need a for loop to enumerate the items in the code.
But sometimes I forget to "watch myself" and then I make my job a lot harder.
When I was growin' up, I was the smartest kid I knew. Maybe that was just because I didn't know that many kids. All I know is now I feel the opposite.

I'm not sure. I do know that I'm weird, even among coders generally, but I'm not sure if that's one of the reasons why.
I think in kinda funny ways.

Actually, it's more a ball of goo. A (new) problem induces a feeling of what to do - usually (but not always) right. Maybe best described as running on instinct.

I personally think that most coders think visually. If I cannot picture it in my head - it is time to start drawing. If it looks to complex, then diagram it to see why. If you cannot diagram it, then you do not understand it and should probably avoid modifying it.
