Can you judge the worth of your work?

I mean it is not really you who decides that, is it?
It is a negotiation for a reason and even if they pay what you ask for, do you really know you asked the right price?

I can't judge its worth, but I can judge its value.
To me, it gives a salary, a sense of accomplishment and self-worth, and indirectly contributes to my having a wife and children. To my employer(s), it gives something to sell. To their customers, it is a tool that allows them, in turn, to perform their work or their leisure activities.
There are many more measures of value that I could use. To which of them do you refer?

The point of me asking this question is that I believe most people will undervalue themselves/ their work in monetary terms.

and create products to sell. Which I cannot afford to buy because my employer does not pay me enough.

Too many people misjudge their worth: how often have you heard, "if they fire me they'll be in the shite and everything will stop working."
And how often have those people been fired and companies gone belly up?
Nobody is irreplaceable.
So to answer the question: You're only worth how much it costs the boss to replace you.

But the misjudgement of worth is equally bad on both sides.
Otherwise try to explain all horror stories of outsourcing to India.

That's a good one to keep in your mind when asking for the next raise. In a time where there's a shortage in trained and trustworthy employees, it becomes easier to be worth ones weight in silver.

I can quantify the cost and look up past profits, but that is not the same as the worth.
How much value is there for an end-user in being freed from Jira?
