Why not give them the vacant seats? Sitting in the occupied ones would be rather uncomfortable for both parties.

The vacant seats are supposed to be left vacant. So, if an elderly person is standing, then you get up and offer to let them sit in your seat.
If it moves, compile it

Well, it was put up on demand. I don't want the site to lose traffic just because I took down my pic.

Well, your name has some high standards. He still didn't get any down vote. (nobody even demanded soapbox transfer)

Well, why would anyone downvote that?
I kinda have a good guess as to who he is. Very few Indian CPians write good English with a british-slant and the fact that he's a little overly sensitive to potential racism has backed up my guess. That closely matches his character (historically speaking)

Interesting... I never thought about that.

It is I, LeClerc!
(Not racism. Their %#*$&@ Xenophobia is what I'm beginning to get fed up with)

Well, you can't ever out-"be racist" an Indian. We invented racism

Excuse me? I'm American, which means we invented everything (including racism) (unless you can prove it) and do it better than everyone else.
If it moves, compile it

I'm ruining your image. Lets hope not too many people read this.
Good thing USians don't use public transport much.

Well I've already ruined mine enough that no one else can make it worse.

Happens to me all the time, and I'm white and live in the US. Maybe you just look unfriendly? I always assume that's why people avoid sitting near me...but then again people I've never talked to before from various classes have no problem approaching me to ask questions about the class, so I'm not so sure.

There! you all are of same race...geeks, he is talking about general population.

But it even happens within that population. I go to an engineering school, that's the only kind of people there

I *am* unfriendly and antisocial. Aren't we all?
Seriously though, I look rather average.
BTW you don't look particularly unfriendly to me.

I was going to ask how you would know, but I guess it's not hard to find a reasonably recent image of me by just searching for my username. Damn Google.

Sorry, mistake. Thought I was replying to someone else.

If you travel on the underground in London, you'll find it doesn't matter what race you are. It's just that people on the underground are an antisocial lot.

If yu travel on the underground in rush hour, and the seat next to you is empty, then you worry!
