Came back offshore Thursday lunchtime, after a couple of hours delay due to aircraft issues.
On the way out I woke up at one point and just felt really sh!t.
Arrived onboard, had lunch and then lasted all of about 2 hours before giving up and sending myself to bed. Got up on the Friday morning to do the morning call with town, then went back to bed.
Got up this morning, felt a lot better, even managed breakfast and lunch! by about 4 I was starting to feel weary. Heading off to my evening management team meeting just shortly. Force a bite to eat, then any guess where I'm going? yep. Bed.
Offshore for new year sucks, Offshore for new year and feeling sh!te == really sucks.......
On the plus side, skiing holiday in March paid for today so at least something to look forward to in the new year! Bring it on!
edit: On another note, I think the microsoft hamsters must be on holiday, downloading SQL Server Express (1GB DL) is taking an eternity.....

Oh, sorry, 2013 has been cancelled for reasons of superstition, we're going straight to 2014.

Well considering we were all meant to be toast on 21st, don't you think you are being a bit over dramatic?

Oh, well, clearly the superstitions of others are bogus, but ours are perfectly valid.

In fact, ours are substitions: they are true even if you don't believe in them.
If you get an email telling you that you can catch Swine Flu from tinned pork then just delete it. It's Spam.

What sort of bandwidth have you got out there?
operator: process data behaves erratically
support: what do you mean?
operator: mostly things seems to work very well, but sometimes, like now, it's lagging
support: we'll look into it
operator: fine
end of video call

At one place I worked we had VOIP phones and a low bandwidth connection from the satellite office I was in to headquarters. Whenever I deployed my app to prod the phones would cut out.

Haha! What a convenient way of getting out of unwanted calls!

Unfortunately I interrupted some of the local manager's calls with upper management.
After that, whenever he was about to begin a call he warned me not to deploy. Eventually the company put in a better link. Then made me work at headquarters. Then laid me off for good measure.

Good guess Pete, see my profile for which one!
it is getting a bit blowy out here today. My office has also got noticeably colder over the last hour or so. Had to put on the stand alone fan heater.
Sunday lunch in half an hour though, usually full spread of Roast beef it will be!
