We are using Lync for IMs at work. By chance I happened upon interesting character sequences. When describing entries with classifications (S) (E) (R) in Lync these sequences rendered as a quartermoon with a face, an envelope, and an rainbow (1/4) arc respectively.
Went looking to find what others there may be but my google-fu is poor. When I have some down time, good old trial and error.
Schenectady? What am I doing in Schenectady?

I hate the character sequence that renders as a kiss. Makes for some awkward group conversations.
Though, I like the combination where you can make an animal (sheep? I forget) sh*t bricks and rainbows.
