Well, I was working on an XML document in VS2012, and created a schema for it. VS then gave me the error "Schemas property will be ignored because the document does not declare any matching target namespaces", even though I did not declare a target namespace in the schema file. D'Oh! | :doh:

I did so, and put it in the XML file's 'xmlns' attribute, but VS still showed the error. Closing and reopening the file didn't work, but restarting VS did.

I think that is a bug. (Or is it an unplanned feature?)

Sounds similar to the unfortunate times I have used Eclipse, with it highlighting syntax errors that either simply do not exist, or still showing the highlighting even though the error has been corrected.

Versions of VS before 2012 (e.g. VS2012) did that a lot. VS 2012 usually removes errors right when they are corrected, but a recent update broke that. Frown | :(

Eclipse doesn't update error status until the document is saved again. Beyond that little annoyance, it usually seems to work fine to me.

They have not released an update, so not so odd. Still have VS2010 crash on me.

My installation of 2010 sometimes BSOD's upon pressing enter after entering a new project name.

Mine likes to do that sometimes when I paste XAML/HTML. It's very rare though.

It's weird. It makes you wonder what VS could possibly be doing that could cause such a serious problem.

An update for VS2012 has been released, and I think that update introduced this error, as it worked fine before.
