Greetings from Bulgaria. Although our IT and Engineer students indeed are knowledgeable and remarkable, our education system is a nightmare.

I totally know what you mean by the last sentence - it's the same here. If there are good students, it's despite the education system, not because of it.

It's simply a standstill. No professor, lecturer or anybody actually cares. Just take his salary, speak for an hour and good to go (oh let's not forget the extra payment from students to let them pass)... It's good thing we have private academies that actually teaches you (and some does it for free compared to the universities).

Install? Turbo BASIC is just install-by-copy -- and works under Win 7 32-bit. It doesn't work under 64-bit Win 7 or 8.

It just occurred to me that I was also offshore for my birthday last year!
At least today being the weekend meant that I was saved from having to endure a sing song down the phone from the rest of the management team onshore and offshore as we don't do a conference call at the weekend.

I apparently have opacities in both eyes, possibly linked to cataracts, but have had them for some twenty years with no effect at all on my vision. My optometrists are always much more concerned than me, until I get paranoid. Then I start asking if they can possibly be linked to a terror trip I had one day after inhaling solvents as a youth. In said trip, I experienced being restrained on a 'surgical' table, while spiral needles approached and penetrated my eyes.

Hi Brady, I suspect that with 881 moons on this body I have a few lunations on you, and my right eye is getting to the place where it's more than 50% compromised.
How wonderful that the lens replacement (surgery) is so successful for a very high percentage of the vast numbers of people who have it every year !

And the improvement is very quick as well!
An elderly neighbour had her cataracts done a couple of years ago, and could see better almost immediately. Only hassle was the eye drops to keep them clean and infection free for a couple of weeks - her hands shook so much she couldn't do them herself for fear of poking her own eye out.

My wife went there and she is ultra-happy with it... no more glasses and eagle vision which is a problem as I can't hide when needed

I had my eyes done (one by one) in 1993 (L -6.9 R -7.2) and I still remember the first day's that both eyes were completely healed and I could look for miles and have a clear vision for the long and short range. It was a fantastic experience and a big relieve because I hated having to wear glasses and lenses so much.
Now more then 20 years later my vision is still good and I only need reading glasses for the really small letters on packages but that's I think normal due to age (49).
