I used to have Delete permissions, but that disappeared about 6 months ago. I never had an official "Protector" status.

They lowered the permission gap to delete certain stuff after the previous LiveStream spam storm.
I was able to delete Q&A comments long before I got the protector status.

It might be an idea to add a sticky to explain that you shouldn't edit spam QA posts (ref: http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/4462092/Live-streamers.aspx[^]) - I've had to remind people a coupe of times this week, and havign a sticky there explainign why would be a good place to point!

I think people edit posts in order to remove the spam due to uncertainties in how long it will take for a message or post to be nuked. I'm not averse to this - as long as the spam also gets reported.

0) Limit the posts of new spammers[^]
1) Limit the posts based on time intervals. This one[^] did post 30 spam messages with 1 min interval. (EDIT : 2 more messages after some time)
2) More Protectors[^]
3) Don't show "Message Automatically Removed" threads. Since yesterday, I saw couple of forums with half pages of those threads. Uncategorised posts[^] forum's first page has only those threads.
4) Any possibilities on Ban IP[^]?
5) After banning the spammers, remove their messages automatically if possible.

The protectors cannot remove spam messages I'm afraid. I wish we could, but we can't.

Yes, you right. Atleast they could delete Q/A section spams. In past I had that power(not protector, only the delete question power) & deleted more than bunch of reposts(after merged content of two questions).

The protectors need the ability to remove nuked threads though. The .NET Framework forum, for instance, is a complete mess.

I just noticed the bomb icon when you mouse over a message. But it's not working for me(power issue). I think it should work for protectors. Give a try
