Its not only you..there are may still be lots of people who have not used some of the controls in their years of development experience....
Still share your knowledge when you gain some by trying out some controls..It may still be useful for atleast one person...at some point of time!!!

I prefer custom controls according to my need instead of MS controls. I also try to use HTML controls if possible.

yes mostly we used HTML controls but sometime it may possible that we build our own user control based on some specific need.. at the same time there is a possibility that ms controls exactly provide the same feature with easy properties and attributes but we don't use them because we don't know how to use it or we just ignore.
if we at least know something about each controls it can be useful when we take a decision to build a user controls. sometimes creating a user control takes long development time and the ms control provide the same feature with less efforts...
just a thought....

Seems like since console based companies (Like Playstation and XBox) still have not mastered the playing platform to this day. As I myself agree they will always be lacking in the area of getting true committed PC gamers. I mean really, as a gamer who would want to play on a console when you get so much more out of a PC?
Well I believe that gap might now be filled and the remaining of the people will be going for the Steam OS[^] System. Well that would be my opinion.

I'm intrigued, what is it about Steam that irks you? I've never had any complaints myself.

Just about everything, really.
I first met it in dial up days, with Half Life. Steam spent so much time updating itself - before it even got to updating the game - that I never got to play it until I bought an XBox 360.
It slows your computer, it crashes, it insists on a net connection at all times, it spends forever updating itself (even now) it won;t even let you own the copy of the software you bought - as in you can;t even sell it if it's not a good game for you because once you install it, it won't install anywhere else.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti DRM, or pro piracy, but the Steam attitude is "You are a criminal, I will stop you" which is wrong - particularly when I paid money for the game...

I'm firmly committed to gaming on the PC - many games support mod's, and options simply not possible on the consoles.
Plus, a decent PC has performance which mightily outclasses even the latest consoles.

I have just discovered Scratch.
Brilliant training tool for kids.
Makes everything easy and logical and you get instant results.
Such a great way to start the younglings in coding.
I never had this, I had to plod through reams of boring stuff that was badly explained and had no immediate impact.

This is pretty freaky  . I had never heard about it until a few hours ago. I was reading an article about the new ".NET Native" compiler and at the bottom of the page was a link to 25 fun things to do with a raspberry pi[^], which I checked out - Scratch was mentioned as #12...

I helped my niece with a project in Scratch and ever since have recommended to adults who want to start programming to start with Scratch.
It's a great introduction to programming concepts and IDEs.
