If the trains went fast enough (approaching the speed of light) through the stations would they get thinner and be able to pass through unscathed?

It is dangerous for a train to go fast.
As it approached the higher speeds, the Doppler Effect would shorten the wave length of the light, turning the Red Light into a Green Light and possibly causing a crash!
Fortunately this is not possible in the UK where no train travels at any kind of speed that could be considered "Fast".

I'm getting the train to London and back on Saturday, we're going first class as it was 46p more expensive than second standard pleb class.
Last time I traveled in first class on a train I only had a standard class ticket. Middle class looting.

I suspect it's the red Dwarf (or Top Gear) logic one...
But I do see a small problem with this approach - have you ever stood on a platform when a fast train goes through the station? Remember the wind that preceded it? And the suction that followed it? Might get a little extreme at those speeds...
