They're really great when you're trying to squeeze your signal to noise ratio as close to zero as possible.

I don't very much dislike the layout (it's pretty modern and stuff, like you say, huge fonts and little content).
It's not functional, but it looks pretty.
What is particulary wrong with this website is that it doesn't tell you what it is they do.
Handling Exceptions? So whenever my software fails to create an invoice Airbrake knows what to do (without me actually having to do anything)? Seems really very unlikely.
In .NET it's quite easy to just log every Exception anyway. Once they're in the database you can filter all you like and most of the time they're pretty easy to fix anyway (Object not set to instance of an object at [Stacktrace]).
I can't find anything about their product in .NET except that it is actually possible...

When done right they can quickly convey the gist of the website.

i think a lot of the motivaton for these designs is to make the "responsive web" that much easier to implement...

I've always assumed it was so they could guarantee the same experience on anything from a 3.5" fondleslab to a 36" desktop. that even if there's real content (which people using that style often forget) the experience is horrible on anything but tiny fondle slabs probably doesn't occur to the sunshines writing them because they have their fondleslab surgically embedded in their palm and never use anything else.

I was working on a new language called "C+++" but now "D" seems to have jumped ahead... I could rename it "E" I suppose... no, that's been done. Ok, "F" it is... er... "G"... "H"... Aha! "H" it is! I'd better call it H++ straight away before someone takes that.
