At times, usually on the weekends, I look up in the sky and make predictions of future events based on the flight of a helicopter. Does that count?

Last sunday I would not have placed any bets on the survival of the helicopter. I finally understand now why this particular type of rotor head is considered to react strongly to external influences (like wind).

If you look really, really hard, you'll see that there are other web-sites on the Internet.
You cannot actually fight someone who is present as just a stream of characters in a forum, so don't bother trying.
If someone has prevented you from expressing your opinion, then he's a wanker, and -- as long as you do not also suppress other people's opinions -- you are the better man, so let him continue to be a wanker in your (mathematical) relationship, and you continue to be the better man.
If you really can't let it go, find out who is the site's actual owner (mods are normally just subscribers, who are given a little power, and usually let it go to their heads), and put in a complaint.
Don't write a lenghty diatribe to complain, though; just something like:
"[link] is what I was banned for. I think [mod's name] is out of control, and giving the site a bad reputation"

Reminds me of the old joke:
A well known rich businessman's wife broke her hip. The businessman got the best bone surgeon in town to do the operation. The operation consisted of lining up the broken hip and putting in a screw to secure it. The operation went fine, and the doctor sent the business man a fee for his services of $50,000. The businessman was outraged at the cost, and sent the doctor a letter demanding an itemized list of the costs. The doctor sent back a list with two things:
1 screw $ 1
Knowing how to put it in $49,999
TOTAL $50,000
The businessman never argued.

I have spent a good deal of time working with regexes (is that the correct plural form?). It's always a great fun. And I just love the "invincible" feeling when I manage to get the expression to work.

Yeah, that's why people climb Everest.
No-one is stupid enough to try to make a career out of climbing Everest, though.
There must be thirty easier to implement and far, far easier to maintain ways of doing anything that can be done with a regex.
The only reason people use it is snooty bragging rights, and that's not a good reason for doing anything as part of your profession.
And yes, I have used regex extensively, but I still rank it as only slightly less ridiculous than brainfuck.

Indeed! For most of the cases, a few if-else blocks and it's done. But regexes* are fun, although I don't use them too often. And it's fun to watch (and then help) people (with no or little clue about regexes*) when they are asked to write one.

I was always amazed how at this job I'm still around a few hundred euros per line of code after 3 years; I'm pretty sure I've written more lines in Word and Excel. I miss writing code, somewhat, but I've learned so much more by debugging. The most important is that I really miss debugging in Visual Studio  ; loading 20 meg binaries over JTAG and sometimes not having a working debugger is a pain, a fun pain.
Not my fault they use me to put out fires.

I'm thinking about starting a new Microchip PIC32 project, noticed that Microchip has a new(er) software framework for MPLAB called Harmony, mmmm I think to myself, could be interesting. Download and install the framework, and as I usually do, open the help pdf, all 5523 pages of it. I have never seen a technical document that large.  I just pray that they have put everything in this doc...

I think a minor factor in one of my past layoffs was my use of the company printer for large documents (that weren't strictly job-related).
E.g. DEC C, DEC LINK, DEC CMS, ...
