I need an icon editor for my app.
Nothing fancy, just basic icons!
I was using IcoFX but it seems you have to pay for it now...
Any alternatives to suggest?

I use GIMP ... it might seem like an overkill, but it has some very nice features for icon creation, e.g. easy packaging multiple layers with "the same" image in different pixel size to single ICO file.

Paint.net[^] is what I have used.

I have use Paint.net for year (very rarely) and didn't consider it supported plug ins. Thank You

You're welcome - I use it as my standard image editing tool.
It's simple, it does support layers, and does not have lots of extra stuff that an amateur like me does not need.

I've used Microangelo for decades. The UI looks a little old now, but it works like a charm all the same...
