Like alternative music isn't music? I think the point with alternative medicine is not an alternative to medicine, but an alternative to conventional medicine. This is not to say that homeopathy is a valid alternative though, while I, only personally, do grant other alternatives, like herbal medicine (especially certain herbs  ) some credence.

I just bought a 4k monitor. Thanks to you I just found my new favorite use for it - the hi-res APODs.  Also our "old friend" looks kinda battered over the time.

I have one too, and sadly, if you want to display the whole thing, you have to crop it vertically nearly by half, which means that horizontally it doesn't fill half the screen.
I get my 4K wallpaper fix from interfacelift.

True about not being able to view it whole but still a wast improvement. I will check the site, but I must say I'm not a fan of desktop wallpapers (I like the pictures though). I like a simple color desktop background. It's less confusing to me.

Well, TBH I'm the same--my desktop background's been a black screen since the days of Windows 3.1, but that doesn't prevent me from seeking out and collecting nice high-res pictures.

So I have a Ford which I really like. It has a built-in GPS and I just had an email form them urging me to update the maps. Ok, sounds like a good idea.
They want $149+tax!!! What the elephant!!! I pad you a mighty sum for this car and now you want to charge me $150 for the privilege of updating one of the integral safety features of the vehicle???
I shall be sending them a snotty letter this evening: I am outraged that they charge for this.

Integral safety feature? Surely it's just a nice to have. Incidentally when I was looking at a new car I decided against an inbuilt sat-nav for the very reason that it's costs a fortune to update them. Went for a separate unit with lifetime updates instead, though I was tempted to just use google maps.

Yeah, that's been my MO in the last few vehicles I've bought too. No regrets. Google Maps on my phone works just great.

I really liked my Ford when I had it. Ran for 10 years and the only problem I ever had was with the engine, which was built by Peugeot so of course it was going to break. Damn French engineering.

Why? Other than that, it's a great car and even the GPS works very well - it has a really good screen and lots of other functionality.
BTW, it came with the GPS - I didn't need to add it. Also, if they'd told me when I was buying it, I'd have no complaints. But they are scum-bag car salesmen so was never going to happen.
