Kinda missed the point though. The caption as written in the quote gives the impression that it is the volcano that is travelling by public transport! That was why I thought it worthy of mention.

I also travel to work with public transportation every day and have not yet met a volcano there. I already wanted to get one of those[^] to protect myself from all kinds of viruses and diseases, but I will need something more resistant if I need to protect myself from travelling volcanos.

I saw a process I had never seen running on my PC called GWX.exe.
I googled and found two articles that explain the adware that microsoft seems to have installed via Windows Update. That is way too much, Microsoft. Way!

I've just uninstalled update KB3035583 and I'm happy to report GWX.exe and the window in the tray are gone.
Yes, it takes a reboot. argh!!
Why didn't MS provide a simple uninstall?
You have to go to windows updates...find KB3035583 and all that.
The poor helpless user will not even know.

IMPORTANT

While typing this message Windows Update popped up and told me there is :
1 important update.

You got it, KB3035583. Terrible. Dead | X|

It is marked as update for Win x64. Nothing else. Mad | :mad:

Man, this thing is honestly terrible.

I went ahead and right-clicked the update and said "ignore" so I am no longer bothered by it.
Can't believe MS decided to be that intrusive.
Who owns this computer I work on anyway?
"...the rights to use Microsoft Windows..." I know I don't actually own the software just the license to use it. They can do whatever they want to me. Confused | :confused:

Microsoft are in danger of 'peaing' off the people who made it number one, since Gates left & Ballamer (?) took over they have been focused on trying to get the trendy web based Apple using crowd (no offense!) crowd to jump ship over to Windows which is why we have the cluster elephant of Win 8 & Win 8.1. The PC is a work machine, it does work, not a life style like Apple. That is why XP is still hanging around (personally I would still be using it, but my XP PC died! Sigh | :sigh:

Add to it that the Windows update that turned that f***ing thing on completely f***ed upmy father's computer. I tried about anything, but the package won't install for an obscure reason but also cannot be ignored, so it tried to install it, fails and reboot-deinstall it at every startup of the PC. Sigh | :sigh:

All that for installing this GWX.exe, which is assumed a critical update package by Windows OMG | :OMG:
