Is it the time of year when students need to start the final-year projects they have chosen? Or is this the time they need to decide if a project is one they want to do? I'm seeing a lot of "How do I <do some high-level complicated project>" questions. Is that what people do these days? Start a degree but want someone else to do their work? If so why become a developer? Do they think that a development job is going to be the same gig, they'll just find someone else online to do their work for them?
I wish people would choose degree subjects they were interested in and had an aptitude for rather than something they think will earn them the most money. Are medical forums plagued with questions like "How to do heart transplant? Plz its urgent".

I think, the solution is much easier ...
They got teached that everything is allready writen and existing. Most of them do not learn something about the "Background". I see it often on my work.
Sometimes it goes a way like this : I need a door, so why not derive from roof and try to build the missing parts around.

In fairness, I doubt that many of these questions are coming from degree students, at least not those for whom computer sciences of one kind or another is the major. I've given up answering questions these days but I remember (with horror) this kind of enquiry spilling out in hordes from high school (6th form in UK) students who either had been forced by circumstance, bad advice or parental pressure to take a computing course or simply had very poor teachers.

They just started classes here, two weeks ago the roads were quiet. Now they are about four times as many cares plus the plague of mopeds and bicycles, neither of which follow the law or the speed limits but that is a different rant.
So likely yes, lots of students returning and deciding what they will be doing this year.

Starting next month, our company has decided to implement the "reverse parking" in out parking lot. As of now opinion are split saying that this does not reduce the risk of accident.
One argument is that it is difficult to navigate backwards into a narrow space rather than drive back in a wider space. Other say it reduces the accident of hitting the pedestrian walking.
Well I have no problem in parking either way but I tend to park in the same direction as my adjacent car is parked. So what about you guys? You park in a specific direction or just decide on a whim?

If there is a lot of room I tend to go in front-wise as I'm lazy. Otherwise I reverse in. I tend to prefer to reverse if I know it'll be busy when I need to leave like public car parks, supermarkets etc.

There is only one way to reduce accidents - take the idiot from behind the wheel and have the parking done by professionals! This has the double advantage of there being no need for pedestrians to be anywhere near the parking area.
If that is not possible then in theory having cars pull in backwards and pull out forwards should be the safest option (assuming that you don't have cats, dogs, or people crouching in parking spaces on a regular basis) as the field of view is clearly wider to the front of the car and the obstruction of neighbouring cars is soonest ended. However ... back to the idiot at the wheel .... !

So instead of backing over pedestrians coming out, they'll be hit on the way in.

Find the person responsible for this policy. Identify his/her vehicle.
Now find the person who does the worst job of backing into a parking spot. They're usually pretty easy to spot as they're the ones with the bumpers scraped at the corners. Make him/her park right next to whoever proposed said policy.

I'd write a memo suggesting better carpooling, alternative modes of travel (bus, bike, walk) and telecommuting so as to increase the number of available spaces, reduce carbon emissions, and make the income disparity between the workers and the executives much more obvious.

Where I work the senior management get both their own car park and their own door to the building.

Interestingly if you are waiting for oncoming traffic to turn into the car park and someone coming the other way is turning in too, if they wave you across they then follow you into the pleb car park. If they don't then they drive into the management car park.

I always park so that I can drive out rather than reverse: there is less of my car ahead of the driver's seat than there is behind, so I get better vision driving out. This helps a lot when the car to your right is replaced by a van while you are in the shops...
Don't care how the car next door is parked - it probably won't even be the same car there when I leave!

I prefer to reverse in largely because I have a reversing camera in my car.
The car is also easier to manoeuvre at slow speeds when reversing due to the turning being at the rear off the car when reversing.
It also means hat when I exit my parking spot, I can look in different directions to look for other traffic.
The only place I don't reverse park is in supermarkets which pretty much force you to forward park so that you can get to your boot with a trolley.
