From the little I have seen of the world of crowd funding (and which has put me off crowd funding), is that it appears that perhaps as much effort goes into the marketing of the product, in order to raise funds, as the actual final product itself.
The projects that appear to do well are those that have a lot of effort given to the videos and promotional material/webpages.
So there may be quite a lot to learn on that front depending on how good you are at marketing.

I did notice that. I looked at KickStarter and the videos/promos I saw were all elaborate. I thought the same - that unless I expended considerable effort in promoting it, it would never get off the ground.

I'm not a creator but as a frequent backer(kickstarter), I could give you some info.
So you mentioned App.
Which platform? Desktop or Mobile?
And which category? Normal App or Games?
Based on Kickstarter statistics, Games is popular category there. But Technology category is not that popular. Still one could reach their depends on App Idea.
Regarding Goal amount .... For first campaign, it's better to go with $50 - $100K range. Then you can go with higher range. You have to create a steady backer range first.

In looking at the bracket, I can see how each of the four regions (south, east, west, midwest) pares down its 16 teams to 1, and then the Final Four begins. But I don't understand the First Four (games). Two games played last night and two will play tonight. Why weren't those 8 teams part of the other regions? What becomes of the winners of those games?

Wichita State went into the South 16, and Florida Gulf coast went into the East 16. Tonight's winners will also make it into one of the regional 16.

There were open slots in the real bracket for them. The whole thing is a stupid money grab.

None of the dozen or so brackets that I looked at had open slots; they were all filled in. Upon closer inspection, however, I see that one spot in each region had two teams listed, those from the First Four games. Makes sense now.

The company I'm working at has a Keurig coffee making station....
WHY DOES THE ELEPHANTING THING HAVE TO MAKE THE COFFEE SO BLASTED HOT THAT YOU CAN'T DRINK IT FOR A HALF HOUR AFTER IT'S MADE!!!!
Last week I put 4 ice cubes in my coffee and had to let it sit on my desk for 10 minutes to further cool down.
What idiot decided that it needed to be so friggin hot???

At a previous job a coworker was a tea drinker. He used the hot water dispenser from the coffee machine and then microwaved it for another minute. I have no idea how he could drink something so hot.

I don't like this ridiculous device as it is. The only benefit is that you don't have to make a fresh pot.
On the counter next to it are probably 20 different boxes of flavors and permientations of drinks.
I just want coffee. For crying out loud just give me a dam cup of plain ole joe!!! And I don't want it hot enough to melt lead.
