The ongoing dispute goes on...and on...

Microsoft will respond to the proposal to turn it's company into a couple of Baby Bills by suggesting its own set of penalties. The options include

  • allowing users and OEMs to "hide" Internet Explorer
  • allowing third parties to customize the desktop so windows doesn't look so much like, well, Windows
  • Providing software manufactures with information to allow them to develop applications for windows in a more timely fashion, and
  • discontinuing the practice of make restrictive agreements to force companies to promote Microsofts products over other products.
