NSD for transfer data in android

Hello,
Some questions about NSD for android.
I know it transfers data from Client to Server using Sockets.
1. Just one server and one client?
2. Server is fix? If no, how it will detect?
3. In what programs NSD is useful?
4. It will decrease in far ways?
5. Is it relay on web services? using Json.
6. Is it use wifi?
7. Does it need to an access point in a WLan?

Server and clients should declared before?
