Is there a Bug with EF6 that it doesnt work with VS13 ?

I have a simple ASP.net application that retrieves data from SQL using EF6, when I select the connection string in the enetity datasource designer it throws an error the provider did not return a providermanifest instance, I did read lots of articles that suggests adding the assembly name in the config file, instead of the *
