Connect to linux machines and execute linux commands through C and Win32

Hi,
Can you please suggest me the topics i need to study or go through to the below situation.

I want to write a program or utility on Windows using Win32 functions in C which tries to connect to a Linux Machine and then executes linux commands on Linux machine and then retrieves the results back to windows and then displays on my output window.
A similar tool like Putty. :)
