High level description of a system via a simple model

Hallo everybody,

I have a system which consists different applications and I want it to be modeled pictorially. The system has more than four different applications. An application may depends on one or more applications, needs environment configuration, and/or other resources. Also, these applications may have interactions between them, or one might has to start before anyone starts.

How can I model such a system at a high level description? I want to follow standards in this area.
