Curious if anyone knows the answer to this.

When you create a mail enabled contact in exchange say Blah@123.com and a exchange user receivies mail from the mail enabled contact, the PR_RECEVIVED_BY_ADDRTYPE is always EX (meaning exchange) when viewing this within outlook spy.

In a seperate enviroments (being dev), running the same test as above, the ADDRType always is SMTP.

Is there a setting somewhere in Exchange to set all PR_RECEVIVED_BY_ADDRTYPE for mail enabled contacts to be ex or smpt?

Here is the test if you want to try within your own env.

1.) Create a mail enabled contact within Ex.
2.) Have that mail enable contact send an email to a Exchange Outlook user.
3.) OPen that message with Outlook spy or mfcmapi, and look at PR_RECEVIVED_BY_ADDRTYPE.

Does it say?
