Copy outlook.pst file to another folder while outlook is running

Hi..

I am creating an outlook addin for Outlook 2007.In that i need to copy the outlook.pst file and save to another location.This should happen while the outlook is running.But i'm not able to do it.

I'm getting the following error "The process has been locked by another process" Please help me.Is there any option to do this?

As far as I know, you have to close Outlook for that. Many backup programs need Outlook to be closed to properly copy the file.

Solution 7

Opening the file for read with the filestream FileShare set to read|write and delete, to allow full access to concurrent accesses, you should be able to read the file.
If outlook updates file while you're copying it the copy will be corrupted.
