Problem in major upgrade

hi,
Iam trying to do major upgrade it is updating but in my control panel it is showing two entries.i dont want two entries.Iam placing custom action tag called
removeexistingproducts after="InstallFinalize"
but it is not removing the existing product.
Please help how to do major upgrade.
