Hi Guys,

Apologies if this question has been answered before. I am looking for mapping software with real aerial terrain for tracking NMEA GPS data for rowing boats in Scottish Lochs. I know I can use Google Maps and Earth to present GPS location but I need to be able to access terrain maps without an internet connection (Google Maps & Earth require internet). Is there a solution I can use to provide real terrain maps like Google Maps??

Thanks in advance.

If you can get your terrain in a suitable "map" format, then OziExplorer will do it for you. The "Moving Map" uses GPS input to update a "I am here" pointer, with optional snail trail.
Google for a link - I'm too lazy ;)

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your input. I did not mention I need mapping software as a component for VB. The tracking program I am creating is written in VB. Do you have any other ideas I could use for the solution?
