what is difference between pixel and point in computer graphics

Hello there,

I am working on a desktop graphical application. In which i have to draw numbers that can change there size with the change in size of parent control. I am working in C#. After some work i think i have to understand the relationship between PIXEL and POINT. And also want to know what is PPI and DPI in graphical measurement.

I hope to get some good understanding or a link/reference that can help me.
