According to http://ww2.ptgrey.com/sdk/flycap[^] it works on Ubuntu.

OK, I read and it clearly says Windows only, so what is the point of posting your question, when you already know the answer?

Well since the documentation specifically states that it is Windows only then it seems unlikely.

No I'm not arguiing with you, I am trying to get you to understand why your question is pointless. You are trying to use a third party library that was created by some Japanese developers. The notes on the project for the part of the library that you want to use explicitly states: Windows only. So how do you think anyone here can tell you how to use it on Ubuntu?
