Open a file from a folder

I would like to get some advise here. This is what i want to achieve. I have a folder that contains some file. Now i want display(open and display file content) from the folder into something. Just like we browse image in Facebook with next and previous options. The user should be able to view the file and also with the next and previous options.

What can be used to display the files....?

Maybe a jQuery fancybox.
