I have an old site that has used FormsAuthenticationTicket with roles for the last few years. Written in 2.0, upgraded to 3.5 a while back. As of the last week during a maintenance cycle the ticket no longer seems to be storing the roles on the hosted server.

I've tested the code locally and had no issues with the roles, rebuilt, redeployed, and on the server I'm still seeing the ticket create, persist, only no roles are found when I look for them.

Individual user authentication is fine, checking for a logged in users works fine, but the roles for some reason aren't there.

Is there some setting or version issue the host may have triggered here? I'm not seeing anything on a quick search but that typically just means I don't know what I should be looking for.

Any help or insight is appreciated. I'm kicking the support staff, but I've had to tell them how to fix things before and something like this seems like it would be good to know the solution to even if they can fix it.
