Please how does on tell that a function uses device points and not logical point and vice versa?

For both questions you can quite easily read the MSDN documentation for each function, which explains what they do and what are their inputs and outputs.

Thanks a lot.That makes a lot of sence.I'll do just that..I guese with time I will know from experience which function uses logical points and which one uses device point.But isn't there a rule of thumb of some sort than one can use to tell.Checking documentation for every single function could drastically increase development time.

I'm not sure there is a simple rule of thumb, it's just a question of learning (or learning where to look) the different functions. Given the size of the Microsoft support libraries it is quite difficult to remember them all.
