I have few doubts on Exception filter in MVC

1. Is it possible to write log file using Exception filter
Can we have different approach in MVC exception handling ie

a. Exception Filter in Controller layer
b. ‘Try Catch’ method in Model Layer / other layer / classes like (my customeutil class etc)
Is this a good practice?

2.How do we handle exceptions like IOException, ReadOnlyException, ArgumentOutOfRangeException etc Using exception filter in MVC
