Hi Experts,

My requirement is, I need to create a setup installation (.msi) for a web application in visual studio 2012. I came to know that InstallShield and Wix are the 2 widely used tools for setup creation. Suggest me which one is better, and please provide me the links to create setup with both.

I have tried to create setup using installshied limited version. I am able to create the .msi file, but when i try to install that .msi --> only a folder is creating in the iis --> default web sites. The folder contains all the published files of the application. It is not creating as an application, so it is not ready to browse. Kindly suggest me which setting i have missed.

Thanks in Advance

Hi Surendra,

Thanks for the reply, I have followed the same steps and able to create .msi. But when i install it, a new folder is created in IIS --> defaultwebsites which contains the published files. In order to browse that, i need to manually convert that folder to application in the IIS. Is there a setting in the setup to convert the folder as application in IIS?
