Please, how do a I make cdc::GetTextExtent to recignise that textdirection and enscarpnent have been set to a non zero value?

When the text direction in my app is changed to bottom to top or top to bottom the text width gets slightly larger, but because GetTextExtent is still calculating extent with the assumption that the direction of display is still horizontal, the caret stays at about 3 character spaces ahead of the text.
