ModalUpdateProgress keeps loading not moving forward.

hi,

In an Update panel i have lots of controls like textboxes ,labels,checkbox and dropdownlist.
my task is whenever i check the checkbox i need to display(visible=true) the dropdownlist control that loads the values from database.
The problem is when i check the checkbox the ModalUpdateProgress keeps loading not moving forward.
it works fine for other controls but not for checkbox.

plz provide me the solution
