Error when saving MS Project 2010 file

Im the only person in my organisation with Project Professional 2010 and have to save my .mpp files in 2014 format so that others can open them. Ive set my version to do this automatically but sometimes when I try to save a file using 'save as' an error message appears to tell me that "Project doesnt recognise .mpp format and to save it in another format". Does anyone know if this is a known issue and what do I need to do to correct it?

You can try by removing or disabling any project add-ins and see if that is helpful to you.
Also while searchin about this i found the following link. basically its for 2007. i think its similar with your query. just go thorugh it and see if you are getting any help from it.
