How to BackUp Exisisting Config Files During Version Upgrade

Hii All

I am Currently Working on a windows application and i need to provide version upgrade with backup of config files.currently I am using setup and deployment for packaging and installer process.although i succeeded with update using custom actions ,but i didn't get the previous config files,i can get only the fresh config files that i currently installed.

How can I get The previously configured file for backup during installation??
