The way I read this is that the outbreak of AI was unexpected, so Nadella needed some advice to capitalize upon the opportunity, and he trusted Bill to offer some suggestions.
I doubt that Gates was maintaining any kind of controlling role with the company.

(I tried to come up with something about them closing up shop and distributing all of their money, so they could ensure their QC department could not find any more security issues (since we are their QC dept). But "Microsoft - Out of Business" was probably too meta.  )

You probably know better than to click on links that download unknown files onto your computer. It turns out that uploading files can get you into trouble, too. Don't download files, don't upload files, maybe just don't do anything with files

Microsoft today shipped a preview of OData .NET 8. The last major update, coming in the Microsoft.OData.Core NuGet package, was version 7.0, which was released in August of 2016. What if they upgraded a product that no one knew about?
